Sophie Holtzman is a Research Assistant at the Alliance for a Sustainable Future and a December 2024 graduate of GWU’s Elliott School of International Affairs. During her undergraduate studies in International Affairs with a concentration in International Environmental Studies, Sophie was a recipient of the Undergraduate Research Award, the Elliott School Research Award, and the Planet Forward Experiential Learning Fund. Additionally, Sophie graduated summa cum laude with Elliott School Honors for her independent research, which she completed during a semester abroad in Sydney, Australia. Previously, Sophie has worked in public relations at FINN Partners, organizing and advocacy at the National Education Association, and peer advising at GW. Personally, Sophie has served as a mentor and volunteer for the Nashman Center for Civic Engagement and Public Service over the past four years and enjoys traveling, reading, and running. Currently, Sophie works across academic disciplines and geographical regions on research projects related to all-things sustainability, climate change, and environmental justice. She looks forward to continuing to tell the stories of the communities most affected by climate change throughout her professional career.
